Functionality & Usage

These questions arise from users curious about the product's capabilities, features, and basic operation. They are commonly asked before/after purchase, during setup, and in daily use to understand what the product can do and how to use it.

Which smart home platforms does it support?

The M1 supports full control across all major smart home ecosystems. It natively integrates with Apple HomeKit via Matter and also supports Amazon Alexa and Google Home. You can control it using your preferred voice assistant or home app.

Can I control the curtain to open halfway or to any specific position?

Absolutely. You can achieve precise control in two ways:
(1) Remote Control Shortcuts: Use one-touch buttons to open the curtain to 50% or 75%.
(2) Precise App or Voice Control: Use the Apple Home, Alexa, or Google Home app to drag the slider or give a voice command (e.g., "Hey Siri, set the curtain to 30%") for stepless adjustment from 1% to 100%.

How do I clear the set travel limits?

Please follow these steps:
(1) Open the back cover of the remote control.
(2) Briefly press the following buttons in sequence: the P2 button on the back β†’ the "Close" button (><) on the front β†’ the P2 button on the back again. (3) When you hear a beep from the motor, the travel limits have been successfully cleared.

The motor is running in the wrong direction. How can I reverse it?

To reverse the motor's direction, please follow these steps:
(1) Press and hold the setting button on the motor body until the indicator light turns solid.
(2) While the indicator light is solid, immediately press the "Pause" button on your remote control.
(3) The motor will automatically correct its running direction.

How do I reset the device to its factory settings?

To perform a factory reset, press and hold the motor's setting button as follows:
(1) Press and hold for about 3 seconds until the indicator light turns solid, then release.
(2) Immediately press and hold the setting button again until the indicator light flashes 3 times, accompanied by a beep.
(3) Release the button. The factory reset is complete, and all network and travel limit settings have been erased.

Will a power outage affect the curtain's operation? Does it have a memory function?

The M1 features a power-off memory function. After the travel limits are set, if a power outage occurs, the curtain will operate according to the original settings once power is restored.
Please note: If the curtain is manually pulled or its movement is forcibly blocked during operation after a power outage, a protection mechanism will be triggered, causing the travel limits to be lost. You will need to set them again.

Does it support the "pull-to-start" or manual activation feature?

Yes. The M1 is equipped with a Touch-to-Go feature. Simply give the curtain fabric a gentle manual pull (move it β‰₯ 3 cm / 1.2 in), and the motor will detect the motion, take over automatically, and complete the opening or closing action.

Can I set schedules for opening and closing? For example, to automatically open the curtains at 7 AM and close them at 8 PM every day?

Of course! Scheduling is one of the most popular features of smart curtains. You can easily set this up through your connected smart home platform. The method varies slightly by platform: If you use Apple Home (HomeKit) or Amazon Alexa: Both platforms fully support scheduling. You can create "Automations" in the Apple Home app or "Routines" in the Alexa app. Setup Steps:
(1) Choose "A specific time" as the trigger (e.g., 7 AM every day).
(2) Select your curtain as the device to be controlled.
(3) Set the desired action, such as "Open," "Close," or "Open to 50%."
This allows you to easily create smart scenes like a "light-based alarm clock" or have the curtains close automatically at sunset.
If you use Google Home: Unfortunately, the Google Home platform does not currently support setting a curtain's open/close action as a direct outcome in its timed Automations (Routines). This is a current limitation of the Google platform itself.

Can it still be operated manually during a power outage?

Absolutely. During a power outage or when the motor is unplugged, you can open and close it manually just like a traditional curtain. The operation is smooth and will not cause any damage to the motor. Once power is restored, the motor will automatically resume its smart control mode.

Installation & Troubleshooting

This section addresses specific questions that arise when users encounter issues during installation or everyday use. The goal is to resolve concrete problems that may be preventing the product from functioning correctly.

Network connection failed. How do I re-pair it?

Please follow these steps. The process to enter pairing mode takes about 1 minute:
(1) Short press the motor's setting button 4 times.
(2) After releasing, press and hold the setting button until the indicator light starts to flash.
(3) Keep waiting. The flashing light indicates that it has entered pairing mode. You can now add the device in the corresponding app (e.g., Apple Home).

How do I adjust the length of the telescopic track?

Please follow these two simple steps to adjust the track length:
(1) Adjust the Main Track Length
a. Loosen the screws labeled β‘‘ on the back of the track (no need to remove them completely).
b. Slide the telescopic track to the desired length.
c. Be sure to tighten the screws β‘‘ securely to fix the track in place.
(2) Calibrate the Internal Carrier Position
a. Loosen the two screws on the carrier labeled β‘’ at the top of the track (no need to remove them completely).
b. Push the carriers on each side to the far left and far right ends of the track, respectively.
c. Finally, firmly tighten the two screws on the carrier β‘’.

What is the recommended number of mounting brackets for the track?

The number of mounting brackets required depends on the final length of your track. We provide recommendations for your reference.

How much wider should the track be than the window?

For optimal light blocking and aesthetics, we recommend the total track length be at least 10 cm (4 inches) wider than the window on each side. This ensures the curtains fully cover the window and effectively prevent light leakage.

Is the installation complicated? Do I need a professional?

Installation is straightforward. You don't need a professional, but we recommend two people work together: one holds the track in place while the other handles drilling and mounting.

For wall installation, how do I ensure it is installed horizontally?

We provide auxiliary tools (a mini level and a drilling template). The mini level helps ensure the track is installed horizontally, and the drilling template helps you confirm the exact positions for the holes.

After setting the travel limits, why does the carrier slip and make a clicking sound?

This usually happens because the screws on the carrier β‘’ are not tightened. Please:
(1) Check and retighten the two screws on the carrier β‘’;
(2) Ensure the internal belt is fully clamped to resolve the slipping and noise.

Why does the track automatically extend after being powered on?

This is because the fixing screws β‘  and β‘‘ on the back of the track are not fully tightened. Please:
(1) Retighten screws β‘  and β‘‘;
(2) Ensure the telescopic joint of the track is securely locked and cannot move.

After resetting the motor, how do I re-pair the remote control?

Pairing the remote is simple. Follow these steps:
(1) Press and hold the motor's setting button until the indicator light becomes solid, then release.
(2) Open the back cover of the remote and press the P2 button.
(3) When you see the motor's indicator light flash once, the pairing is successful.

If I extend the track length, do I need to recalibrate the travel limits?

Yes, you need to recalibrate the travel limits. Please follow these two steps:
(1) Clear the old limits: Open the remote's back cover and short press in sequence: P2 button on the back β†’ "Close" button on the front β†’ P2 button on the back.
(2) Set the new limits: Use the "Open" and "Close" buttons on the remote to run the curtain through one full cycle (from fully open to fully closed). The motor will automatically record and calibrate the new travel range.

I used the remote to open the curtain halfway, then unplugged the power. Later, I moved the curtain manually. After plugging it back in and pressing "Open" on the remote, why doesn't the curtain fully open/close?

Hello! Our smart curtain has a great power-off memory feature. Normally, even after a power outage, it remembers your set start and end points. However, when you manually pull the curtain while the power is off, the motor interprets this as an intent to readjust the position, which alters its stored memory of the travel limits. As a result, it can get a bit "confused" when you use the remote or app again.
The solution is simple: You just need to reset the "fully open" and "fully closed" positions once using the app or remote control, and it will restore precise control. This design is much more convenient than products that need to re-learn the entire travel range after every power loss!

Platform Integration & Ecosystem Compatibility

These issues are not caused by hardware malfunctions or standalone functional failures of the smart curtain itself. Instead, they stem from incompatibility, synchronization errors, or abnormal behaviors that occur during connection, communication, data syncing, or command interpretation with external smart home ecosystems (like Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home).

I shared the curtain with a family member in Apple Home and later revoked the sharing. Why is the device still visible in Google Home or Alexa?

Hello, this is related to a characteristic of the Matter protocol. Currently, when you revoke sharing in Apple Home, this action does not automatically sync to your other linked platforms (like Google Home or Alexa).
Solution: You will need to go into the Google Home and Alexa apps separately and manually remove the device. This is a common situation for cross-platform device management at present.

When I tap "Fully Open" in the app, the interface shows 99% instead of 100%. Is it broken?

Please rest assured, this is not a product defect. On shorter tracks (around 1 meter), the transmission mechanism is so precise that there might be a tiny 1% discrepancy between the motor's calculated position and what the app displays. This has absolutely no impact on the curtain's normal use or its actual opening/closing performance. This issue rarely occurs on longer tracks. You can think of it as an acceptable minor variance in high-precision measurement.

I tried to share the curtain from my Apple Home to another family member who also uses Apple Home, but the sharing failed. Why?

Hello, Apple Home's sharing mechanism is based on "Home" membership, not on sharing individual devices.
The correct method is: As the creator of the "Home," you should invite your family members to join your "Home" within the Apple Home app. Once they accept the invitation, they will automatically be able to see and control all the smart devices in the home, including this curtain, without needing a separate share. This method is more convenient and secure for management.

I reset the curtain to re-pair it with the network, but why can I still see it in the previous apps (Apple Home/Alexa/Google Home)?

Hello, this is a feature of the Matter protocol. When you reset the device itself, it is not automatically removed from the cloud or the apps. This is to prevent you from having to go through complex setups in every app again if the device is reset by mistake.
What you need to do: After resetting the device, please go into the Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home apps one by one and manually remove the "offline" device.

The curtain stopped because it hit an obstacle while running, but the open/close percentage in the app didn't update and still shows the previous position. What's happening?

That's an excellent question. Our motor has a safety feature that stops it when it detects an obstruction. When it stops due to an obstacle, the motor's travel memory is interrupted because it no longer knows its exact position. In this case, the percentage in the app will indeed not update immediately.
Solution: First, remove the obstacle. Then, use the app or the remote to run the curtain through a full "fully open" or "fully closed" cycle once. This action allows the motor to re-learn and calibrate its position, after which the app's percentage display and controls will return to normal.

When I drag the slider in the Alexa app to open the curtain, it closes insteadβ€”the direction is reversed. However, voice commands and the remote control work correctly.

Hello, we are aware of this situation. It occurs because the Amazon Alexa platform's definition for opening and closing curtain-type devices can be the reverse of Apple Home's and Google Home's. This is part of Alexa's own platform logic and not a problem with our product. While the slider in the app might seem counter-intuitive, the good news is that the more common voice commands (e.g., "Alexa, open the curtains") work correctly and accurately. You can confidently use voice or the remote for control.

I'm following the manual to add the curtain via the Alexa app, but at the Wi-Fi connection step, it doesn't automatically show the Wi-Fi network my Echo device is connected to.

Hello, this can happen occasionally and is usually caused by a temporary synchronization delay between Amazon's servers and your Echo device.
You can try the following methods:
(1) Wait and Retry: Give the platform a few minutes to sync, then try the setup process again.
(2) Enter Wi-Fi Manually: If it still doesn't appear automatically, you can choose to manually enter the Wi-Fi name and password.
(3) Reboot Your Echo and Phone: A simple restart can often resolve most network sync issues.
This is typically not a problem with the device itself, so there's no need to worry.

I told Alexa, "Open the curtain at 9 AM tomorrow," but it opened immediately instead of waiting for the next day.

Hello, similar to the situation with Google Home, Amazon Alexa's voice commands do not currently support direct scheduled commands for curtain devices.
When it hears your command, it prioritizes identifying and executing keywords, such as "open the curtain."
Recommended Solution: Please open the Alexa app and use the "Routines" feature. You can easily create a new routine, set it to trigger at a "specific time" (e.g., 9 AM every morning), and then add an "action" to open the curtain. This will perfectly achieve your scheduling needs!

I've successfully added the curtain in the Alexa app on my phone, so why can't I find it in the device list on my Echo device?

Hello, this situation is usually caused by a sync delay between Amazon's servers and your Echo device. After the device is successfully added in the app, it takes some time for the data to fully sync to the cloud and all your devices. You can try:
(1) Waiting patiently: The curtain device will typically appear in your Echo's smart home list automatically after some time.
(2) Rebooting your Echo: Unplug the Echo's power cord, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Upon restarting, it will reconnect to the servers and refresh its device list.

I want to set up an automation in Google Home, like "Open the curtains automatically when I arrive home," but I can't find this option.

Hello, the feature you're describing is a platform-level automation rule. Currently, Google Home's automation feature (Routines) does not yet support curtains as an executable action. This means you cannot set a trigger (like arriving home) to automatically open or close the curtain. This is a current limitation of the Google platform; we hope they will add support for it in the future.

The curtain stopped after hitting an obstacle. Why is the position percentage in the app incorrect now?

This is a crucial initialization step! After adding the device to the app, the motor and the app need to perform a "handshake" to sync their initial states. Please do the following:
(1) Take out your remote control and first clear the old travel limits (please refer to the manual for specific instructions).
(2) Then, set the "fully open" and "fully closed" positions for the curtain again.
After completing this "calibration" step, the motor will send the most accurate position information to the app, and the status displayed in the app will perfectly match the curtain's actual state.

I just added the curtain to Google Home. The app shows it as "Closed," but the curtain is actually fully open. The status is reversed.

If my home internet is down (the Wi-Fi router has no signal), can I still control the curtain with my phone app?

Hello, our smart curtain connects to the internet via Wi-Fi, and commands are processed by the cloud servers of smart home platforms (like Alexa, Google Home). Therefore, when your home internet is down, you won't be able to control it via the phone app or a smart speaker. But don't worry, in this situation, you can still use the included physical remote control to operate the curtain normally, so basic use is not affected.

Does this curtain motor support over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates?

Hello, the current design does not support over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates.

I added the curtain to Google Home. It works perfectly when controlled from my Android phone, but I can't control it using the Google Home app on my iPhone.

Hello, we are aware of this issue. It is not a fault with your curtain or phone, but a known technical compatibility issue that occurs with this specific combination of platforms. It involves the interaction between the Google Home platform, the Matter protocol, and Apple's iOS. Google and Apple are continuously working to resolve these types of cross-platform issues. For now, we recommend using the Apple Home app directly on your iPhone for a smoother control experience.

In Google Home, why does my curtain device show up with a "blinds" icon?

Hello, this is by design of the Google Home platform. In the Google Home app, all curtain-type smart devices, whether they are fabric curtains or roller shades, use a unified "blinds" icon by default, and this cannot be changed at the moment. This is only a display icon; it does not affect the functionality or control of your curtain in any way. Please feel free to use it.

After adding the curtain to Apple Home using my iPhone, the device tile constantly shows "No Response," and I can't control it.

Hello, the "No Response" status usually appears because a crucial final step, "travel calibration," is missing after the device has been added. Please follow these steps:
(1) Ensure you have adjusted the track length according to the instructional video in the manual.
(2) Take out the remote control from the package and first clear the travel limits.
(3) Then, set the "fully open" and "fully closed" positions for the curtain again.
>After this calibration is complete, the motor will report the correct status to Apple Home, the device status will update to online, and you will be able to control it normally.

I created an automation in Apple Home to "Open the curtain to 50%," but it opens completely every time the automation runs.

Hello, we have noticed this behavior. It is often related to the version of Apple's iOS. On certain iOS versions, HomeKit automations may have a bug when executing "open to a percentage" commands for third-party curtains, causing them to execute a "fully open/close" command instead. We recommend updating your iOS to the latest version, as Apple continuously releases fixes for such issues.

I created a scene in Apple Home to "Close Curtains," but when I activate the scene, the curtains don't react.

Hello, we've observed this issue, and it's also likely caused by the iOS version. On some specific versions of iOS, HomeKit can be unstable when executing commands within scenes or automations. You can try the following:
(1) Make sure all your devices (iPhone, iPad, HomePod, etc.) are updated to the latest OS version.
(2) Try restarting your Apple home hub (e.g., HomePod or Apple TV).
(3) If the problem persists, it may require a fix from Apple in a future system update.
