M1 FAQ

Welcome to our smart curtain track M1 FAQ, we are so happy to have you here and as a client.
We have tried to answer the most common questions.

Functionality & Usage

These questions arise from users curious about the product's capabilities, features, and basic operation. They are commonly asked before/after purchase, during setup, and in daily use to understand what the product can do and how to use it.

Q1: Can this track work with American Pinch Pleat or Ripple Fold (S-Fold) curtains?

A: It depends on the style:
(1) Ripple Fold (S-Fold): Not supported. The M1 uses independent runners and cannot accommodate the fixed spacing chains required for Ripple Folds.
(2) American Pinch Pleat: Supported for Wall Mount only. Do not use Ceiling Mount, as the ultra-slim track design causes the curtain header to rub against the ceiling, which may jam the motor.

Q2: Can I configure the M1 for a side opening (one-way draw)?

A: No, the M1 only supports "Center Opening" (Split Draw).
The telescoping track and belt mechanism are pre-configured to open from the center outward. It cannot be reconfigured for a one-way draw (side stacking).

Q3: The motor looks small. Can it handle heavy blackout curtains or velvet drapes?

A: Absolutely.
Despite its mini size, the M1 is engineered with high torque. It handles a max load of 66 lbs (30 kg), making it perfect for heavy fabrics like velvet, blackout, or thermal drapes. It has been rigorously tested to ensure 10 years of reliable operation under heavy loads.

Q4: I already have curtains with hooks. Does the M1 track have enough hook holes to hang them?

A: Yes, absolutely! The M1 track provides plenty of hook holes on each side to accommodate standard curtain widths. Here is the breakdown of total attachment points available:

Pro Tip for Hanging:
① Anchor the ends first: Hook the inner edge of your curtain into the 2 holes on the master carrier (to prevent light gaps when closed), and the outer edge into the 1 hole on the end cap (to keep the fabric anchored to the wall).
② Skip extra holes: Distribute your remaining hooks evenly across the gliders. If you have more glider holes than hooks, simply leave the extra holes empty—it won't affect the smooth operation of your curtains!

Q5: Can I install a double-track system using a wall mount (side mount)?

A: Yes, you can! However, wall-mounting a double-track system requires Double-Track Wall Mount Brackets, which are sold separately. You can easily add these brackets to your order from our official store to complete your setup.

Q6: Do I need a specific hub to use the M1?

A: No proprietary hub is needed.
The M1 uses Matter over Wi-Fi technology. It connects directly to your home network and seamlessly integrates with Apple Home, Google Home, and Alexa.

Q7: What are the Wi-Fi requirements?

A: The M1 supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks only.
It does not support 5GHz. Please ensure your router's 2.4GHz band is enabled during setup.

Q8: Is this compatible with my existing smart home ecosystem? (e.g., Alexa, Google Home)

A: Yes, it supports full cross-platform control.
Via the Matter protocol, it integrates natively with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home. You can use your preferred voice assistant or app.

Q9: Can I open the curtains just a little to let in some morning light, or is it fully open/close only?

A: Certainly. You have two ways to control it precisely:
(1) Remote Shortcuts: One-click to set curtains to 50% or 75% open.
(2) Precision Control: Use the slider in the Apple Home, Alexa, or Google Home app, or use voice commands (e.g., "Hey Siri, open curtains to 30%") for 1% to 100% adjustment.

Q10: Can I "set it and forget it"? I want the curtains to open and close automatically on a schedule.

A: Yes, this is one of our most loved features!
You can easily create Schedules and Routines via apps like HomeKit or Alexa. For example, set them to open at 7 AM for a natural sunlight wake-up, or close at 8 PM for privacy. You can even set different schedules for weekdays and weekends. It’s a simple way to add a touch of luxury and convenience to your day.

Q11: What happens during a power outage? Will I be unable to move the curtains?

A: Not at all! We designed two key safety features for power outages:
(1) Manual Override: You can still open/close the curtains by hand smoothly. The motor's clutch disengages automatically, so there is no resistance.
(2) Position Memory: Once power is restored, the motor remembers its last position and travel limits. No recalibration is needed.

Q12: Is it smart enough to start automatically with a gentle tug?

A: Yes. The M1 features "Touch & Go".
Simply give the curtain fabric a gentle tug (move it ≥ 3cm), and the motor will detect the motion, take over, and finish the job automatically.

Q13:I have high ceilings. How do I charge the device?

A: No ladder needed.
Each M1 comes with a 10-foot (3m) USB-C charging cable, allowing you to easily reach a floor outlet to charge the device.

Q14: Can I set a schedule? For example, automatically open the curtains at 7 AM and close them at 8 PM?

A: Yes, but it depends on your smart home platform.
The M1 is a Matter device, so scheduling is managed directly by your smart home platform. Currently, Apple Home and Amazon Alexa offer the best support for scheduling.
(1) For Apple or Alexa users (Recommended):
You can easily set schedules, including "Open at Sunrise / Close at Sunset" routines.
① Requirement:
You need a Matter Hub for your platform (e.g., HomePod mini, Apple TV, or Echo device). Schedules are stored and processed on the hub.
② How to set it up:
Go to the "Automation" (Apple) or "Routines" (Alexa) page in your app → Tap "+" / Create → Select "Time of Day" as the trigger → Select the M1 Curtain and set the action (e.g., "Open" or "Open to 50%").
(2) For Google Home users:
We apologize, but the Google Home platform does not currently support scheduling for curtains/blinds within its "Routines".
Current Status:
You can use voice commands via Google speakers (e.g., "Hey Google, open the blinds"), but you cannot set automated schedules in the Google Home App at this time.

Q15: Can I control the curtains remotely when I'm away from home?

A: Absolutely! You can check the status and control your curtains from anywhere.
Note: Since M1 uses the Matter protocol (which prioritizes local operation for better security and stability), you must have a Hub in your home to act as a gateway to the internet.
Required Hubs:
Examples include Apple HomePod/Apple TV, Amazon Echo devices, or Google Nest Hub.
How it works:
As long as you have one of these hubs powered on and online at home, you can control the device remotely via the Apple Home, Alexa, or Google Home app without any extra setup.
(Note: Without a hub, you can only control the device locally when your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi.)

Installation & Troubleshooting

This section addresses specific questions that arise when users encounter issues during installation or everyday use. The goal is to resolve concrete problems that may be preventing the product from functioning correctly.

Q16: I'm not a pro. Is this installation DIY-friendly?

A: We designed this specifically for hassle-free DIY.
The kit includes our innovative telescoping track, meaning absolutely no cutting is required. Simply adjust the track to fit your window width. With our clear, step-by-step video tutorials, most customers finish installation in under 30 minutes! No special tools or pros needed.

Q17: My window size is unique. How do I know the track will fit?

A: Our telescoping track is the perfect solution.
It adjusts to fit a wide range of sizes. Before ordering, simply measure your window width. For the best light-blocking and aesthetics, we recommend the track extends at least 4 inches beyond the window frame on each side.

Q18: How many mounting brackets do I need? Are they included?

A: The number of mounting brackets depends on the extended length of your track. We provide a reference guide in the manual to ensure stability.

For the 1.07m~1.67m size: use 2 mounting brackets if the telescopic length is 1.07m~1.27m, and 3 brackets for 1.27m~1.67m.

For the 1.67m~2.89m size: fit 4 mounting brackets for 1.67m~2.47m telescopic length, 5 brackets for 2.47m~2.89m.

For the 2.27m~4.07m size: install 5 mounting brackets for 2.27m~3.07m telescopic length, 6 brackets for 3.07m~4.07m.

Q19: I need to wall-mount it, not ceiling-mount. How do I ensure it's level?

A: Yes, we include helpful tools:A mini spirit level ensures the track is perfectly horizontal, and a drilling template helps you mark the exact hole positions without guessing.

Q20:Can I install this over a sliding glass door (patio door)?

A: Absolutely.
Our Size L (up to 114") and Size XL (up to 160") are specifically designed to fit standard American patio doors and sliding glass doors.

Platform Integration & Ecosystem Compatibility

These issues are not caused by hardware malfunctions or standalone functional failures of the smart curtain itself. Instead, they stem from incompatibility, synchronization errors, or abnormal behaviors that occur during connection, communication, data syncing, or command interpretation with external smart home ecosystems (like Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home).

Q21: Help! It's installed, but the motor is making a clicking or stuttering noise.

A: This is usually caused by loose screws on Carrier #3.Please follow these steps:
(1) Check and retighten the two screws on Carrier #3.
(2) Ensure the internal belt is fully pressed down. This should eliminate any slipping or clicking sounds.

Q22: The controls are reversed (I press "Open" but it closes). Do I need to uninstall it?

A: You can reverse the direction easily:
(1) Long-press the Set button on the motor until the LED stays solid on.
(2) Immediately press the Pause button on the remote.
(3) The motor will automatically reverse its running direction.

Q23: Why does the track/carrier move automatically upon power-up?

A: This happens if the track joints aren't locked. Please:
(1) Retighten screws #1 and #2 on the back of the track.
(2) Ensure the track splice (telescoping joint) is firmly locked and cannot move.

Q24: How do I re-pair the remote after resetting the motor?

A: Pairing is simple:
(1) Long-press the motor's Set button until the light stays on, then release.
(2) Open the remote's back cover and press the P2 button.
(3) The motor light will flash once, indicating pairing is successful.

Q25:If I adjust (extend) the track length, do I need to re-calibrate the limits?

A: Pairing is simple:
(1) Long-press the motor's Set button until the light stays on, then release.
(2) Open the remote's back cover and press the P2 button.
(3) The motor light will flash once, indicating pairing is successful.

Q26: My curtains are moving in the reverse direction. How do I switch it?

A: If your curtains open when they should close (or vice versa), you don't need to reinstall the motor. You can reverse the motor direction directly using the physical button:
① Short press the motor button once.
② Immediately press and hold the same button for 5 seconds.
③ The LED indicator will flash 3 times, and the master carriers will move slightly and return to their original position. Your motor direction is now successfully reversed!

Q27: I'm having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi. What should I do?

A: First, ensure you are using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Then, enter pairing mode:
(1) Short-press the Set button 4 times.
(2) Release, then long-press the Set button until the light flashes.
(3) Wait for the flashing light (Pairing Mode), then add the device in your App (e.g., Apple Home).

Q28: I opened the curtain halfway, unplugged it, moved it manually, and plugged it back in. Now it won't fully open/close. Why?

A: Don't worry, this is normal behavior.
The motor has power-off memory. However, if you move the curtain manually while the power is off, the motor detects a position change and gets "confused" about its exact location.
The Fix: Simply use the remote or App to run a full Open and Close cycle. This allows the motor to re-scan the track and self-correct its limits.

Q29: If the curtain hits an obstacle or I stop it by hand, will the system get confused?

A: That's a great question.
Our motor has an Obstacle Stop safety feature. If blocked, it stops to prevent damage. This may cause the App percentage to be temporarily out of sync. This is not a malfunction. Just remove the obstacle and run a full "Open" or "Close" command. The motor will re-calibrate, and the App display will return to normal.

Q30: What is your warranty policy? I want to ensure I'm covered if I need help.

A: We stand behind our quality.
Warranty: 5 years on the motor, 3 year on track parts.
Coverage: Performance failures due to defects in material or workmanship (e.g., motor failure) under normal use.
Exclusions: Damage from misuse, accidents, water, unauthorized modifications, or force majeure (e.g., floods, lightning).
